Our Newport hub

Over the last year, we’ve been doing various outreach events and consultations to ascertain the needs of the community in Eveswell & to understand what they would like to see happening in their community.  In response to what we’ve heard and thanks to a grant from Awards for All, we started offering the following activities funded by Lottery.

Stay & Play

Mondays, 10-11:30am

The Stay & Play session caters for a wide range of parents and carers, including grandparents and childminders. The group provides an opportunity for both adults and children to meet new people and to enjoy play activities in a safe, informal and friendly environment. Through providing varied activities including creative, imaginative and exploratory play, books and stories, as well as other resources, children can develop their physical, literacy, communication and cognitive skills. For both adult and child, connecting with others can be beneficial to their wellbeing.

The Saturday Family Hang Out

Saturdays, 10-12noon

Family Hang Out provides an opportunity for families to come together for a facilitated play session. This varies from week to week but includes crafts, games, gardening, cooking, movie mornings as well as trips to local parks/attractions.  In this fast-paced world we live in, with constant digital distraction, we want to provide a safe & fun space where families can spend time together and take part in meaningful activity. We trust that these sessions will strengthen family bonds and lead to increased self-esteem for the children and young people, as well as fostering good communication between family members.

LEGO Club

Fridays, 5:30 – 6:30pm

A weekly LEGO Club for ages 5-12 years & their parents to come together & get creative over LEGO!

Artful Crafters

Tuesdays, 7-9pm

This started off as a Christmas Crafting group, coming together to learn how to create & paint Christmas villages & other Christmas Crafting with local artist, but has now grown into a more general craft group, from painting to stained cut glass work!

Sheshed

Saturdays, 2-4pm

A group for women only to get together for crafting, chatting & other activities.  All women welcome. An opportunity to make new friends & have a cup of tea!
